Three South Dakota beef producers will serve in national organization roles to help promote beef. Laurie Johnson of South Shore and Veabea Thomas of Harold were elected to the Cattlemen’s Beef Board. Gary Deering of Hereford will serve as Region 7 Vice President on the Federation of State Beef Councils. Deering says the Federation has been hard at work promoting U.S. beef.

In his position, Deering will be working closely with State Beef Councils to coordinate regional activities. He hopes to collaborate on some projects with the other councils in the region.

Deering says there is a lot to be optimistic about in the beef industry right now.

The Cattlemen’s Beef Board oversees the national beef checkoff, while the Federation of State Beef is a division of NCBA and supports an effective state and national Beef Checkoff partnership.
