A legislative task force took some initial steps in setting up new water district boundaries at their meeting on Friday.
The “River Basin Natural Resource District Oversight Advisory Task Force” was set up by this year’s legislature to manage water based on drainage basins instead of county lines.
The task force settled on nine natural resource districts to cover the state, and debated what type of authority they would have.
Task force member, Senator Jason Frerichs of Wilmot says he doesn’t want them to get hung up on specific rules at this point………

Task Force Chair Kim Vanneman of Ideal says ideas and issues will change as they work through the initial phases………

Vanneman says it is a major change in water management, and will take some adjustments………

The task force will meet again on November 23rd.
