The 2016 general election ballot in South Dakota is beginning to fill in with petition driven issues.

Among the bills being referred is SB 69. That bill would change the process of a candidate getting on the ballot.

Cory Heidelberger of Aberdeen led the successful petition drive to refer that issue to the voters.

He admits it is kind of complicated………….

Heidelberger says if the law had gone into effect, it would have made it more difficult for candidates to get on the ballot…………

Heidelberger says the bill was advertised as way to prevent vote fraud……….

Heidelberger was also successful in referring SB 177, which would have set a lower minimum wage for workers under the age of eighteen.
