SD Tourism Spends Big for Rose Bowl Parade Float

The South Dakota Department of Tourism sponsored a float in the New Year’s Day Rose Bowl Parade. The float featured Mt Rushmore, and invited people to visit the state.
The float cost over a quarter million dollars, and there has been some criticism of spending that much on one event.
Tourism Department Secretary Jim Hagen says it is all part of their marketing plan….

Hagen says the float expense was included in their overall budget….

Hagen says they work to target their advertising to get the best return….

Hagen says they will talk more about their marketing plans at the tourism conference in Pierre starting on the 19th.
