Adding future amendments to South Dakota’s Constitution may take a higher vote majority than the current fifty percent plus one.
The Initiative & Referendum Task Force, meeting in Pierre, heard a proposal from Senator Jim Bolin of Canton to raise the percentage of votes needed……

Bolin said he wasn’t set on whether that should be fifty-five, or sixty percent.

Senator Ernie Otten of Tea agreed with the increase….

Brown County Commissioner Duane Sutton says the higher percentage makes sense…..

The task force took no action on the proposal, but will bring it up again at their next meeting on August twenty third.
