SD Task Force Looking at Ballot Issue Process

A task force created by the South Dakota legislature to look at the ballot issue process held its first meeting this week in Pierre.
The task force met over two days to hear about the history of the initiative and referendum process, and what the goals of the group should be.

During public testimony, Roxanne Weber of Pierre said the ballot process is critical to democracy…..

Karen Hall of Rapid City said government needs to pay attention to the ballot issues…..

Dave Owen, President of the State Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said they are not fans of the process…..

The task force took no action, and will meet again in late July.
