The Cheesman Center for Democracy, based in Rapid City, will be holding a South Dakota Summit on Civic Education and Engagement Thursday in Pierre.
The purpose of the event is to bring together citizens, civic leaders, educators, elected and appointed officials from across the state to discuss civic engagement and education.

Timm says being involved in the democratic process should start at an early age…..
Timm adds that parents also play a vital role of teaching their kids about voting and the democratic process. He adds that this week is now a perfect time to have such a summit……
The summit will be Thursday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Ramkota Conference Center in Pierre. The event is free to the public, but space is limited. Call 605 341-4311 as soon as possible to register.
