Several state and federal issues will be on the agenda for South Dakota Stockgrowers Association members attending their convention this week in Rapid City. Executive Director Silvia Christen says they’ll be talking about trade, animal disease traceability, federal lands and South Dakota’s property tax formula.
She says her group wants NAFTA to be amended or fixed rather than thrown out and it should include reinstatement of country of origin labeling.
Christen says regarding taxes, the Stockgrowers Association has long called for South Dakota’s property taxes to be based on actual use of the land.
Christen says they’ll also be electing officers during their regular business session. The convention runs Thursday through Saturday.
