SD Stockgrowers React to Brand Board Asking For Additional Funding

South Dakota Brand Board members facing a shortfall for next year say they’ll ask lawmakers to raise caps on some fees. South Dakota Stockgrowers Association President Gary Deering says his group has taken a neutral stance on the request.

He says his group works well with the Brand Board and realizes the importance of keeping them operating on a solid basis.

Deering says cash is tight right now for producers but keeping the Brand Board solvent is a critical need.

Deering says the Stockgrowers were able to team up with the Brand Board on needed legislation last year to allow some East River brand inspections.
