State FFA officers from around the country are attending this week’s State President’s Conference in Washington D.C. South Dakota State FFA Vice President Kaitlyn Schmeichel is one of the officers attending the leadership conference, which focuses on grassroots policy development within the organization.

She says they’re meeting the South Dakota’s Congressional delegation and finding out about how federal policy impacts the agricultural industry.

Schmeichel says they’re also going through individual leadership training and gaining skills and ideas they can take bring back to the state and share with their chapters.
