South Dakota State Fair attendance this year at 210,893 exceeded organizer expectations showing a slight increase over 2014. Fair Director Peggy Besch says they were excited and surprised by the numbers especially considering disease issues that impacted poultry and horses.

She says their revenue projections also reflected positive growth.

Besch says they were able to have increased attendance despite very hot conditions on Thursday and Friday at the Fair. She says interest in the new Nordby Four H Building being constructed helped draw people to their event. Next year’s fair runs from September 1 through September 5.
