While teachers in the state will get a raise of three tenths of a percent, state employees will instead have that increase directed to their health insurance costs.
House Minority Leader Spencer Hawley of Brookings says that small increase won’t cover all the increase in insurance…..

Hawley says it was a struggle in the last days of the session to get any increase for state employees…..

Hawley says with rising insurance costs, state employees could actually see a pay cut…..

The insurance cost may have to be made up with dollars from the state reserve.
