A task force, made up of legislators and educators focused on special education, met several times during the interim, looking for solutions to rising numbers and costs.

The committee finished without making any specific legislative recommendations.
Committee member, Avon Superintendent Tom Culver, says they had a lot of information to dig through…

Culver says they have no ability to negotiate any costs with their outside suppliers…

One of the key issues the task force was looking at was the use of the extraordinary cost fund to help districts pay for special education.

Culver says that won’t change anytime soon…

This was the second year an interim committee looked at special education.
