Despite major changes in federal tax policy, South Dakota should see continued growth in renewable energy projects.

Kristie Fiegen, Chair of the Public Utilities Commission, says the federal Production Tax Credit, used to help launch wind projects, was reduced twenty percent this year……

Fiegen says she expects more wind power projects in the near future…..

Fiegen says the tax credit for solar projects will also slowly fade away…..

The PUC is involved in regulation of any renewable energy project that produces at least one hundred megawatts of electricity.

South Dakota gets about thirty percent of electricity from wind generation.
