The South Dakota Sheep Growers Association Board of Directors has created a new position for an Executive Director. In the past those duties have been handled on a voluntary basis. SDSU Extension Sheep Field Specialist David Ollila says one of the main reasons they’re hiring a full-time person is they want a leader to help grow their membership, since there are many sheep producers who aren’t part of the South Dakota Sheep Growers Association.
He says one of their major responsibilities will be to help promote the yearly ewe sale.
He says the Executive Director will also update sheep producers on critical national and state issues.
The application deadline is February 1. Those interested can apply by going to the South Dakota Sheep Growers Association website.
