Delegates from nineteen states met in Arizona last week to lay the ground work for a possible constitutional convention.
South Dakota delegates included Representative Mike Stevens of Yankton, Senator Jim Stalzer, and former representative Hal Wick, both of Sioux Falls.
Stevens says it was a chance to talk about the framework of such a gathering…..

Stevens says members split into different groups…..

Twenty seven states have passed a resolution calling for the convention.

Stevens says this was the first meeting in a long process…..
Stevens says delegates agreed that any convention would be focused only on the balanced budget issue. The last constitutional convention was held in 1787.
