South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds has re-introduced a bill that calls for an assessment of the Indian Health Service. A similar bill got out of committee last year but didn’t move any further.
Rounds says IHS opposes the bill…

Rounds says there is no way to track how the Indian Health Service spends its budget…

Rounds says the Aberdeen Region of the IHS does not now have good outcomes for patients….

Rounds says there is also “clear evidence of mismanagement and criminal neglect” in allowing doctors to be transferred from one region to another.
He says Congress needs the information to make sure federal dollars are going where they are supposed to go.
