South Dakota Senator John Thune was one of eighteen republican Senators that voted to pass the one point seven trillion dollars Omnibus spending bill just before Congress adjourned before Christmas.

Thune says it’s an obligation of the Senate….

Thune was criticized by other republicans for supporting the bill. He says using a continuing resolution is not responsible….

Thune says he wasn’t confident the House, even under republican control could come up with any better bill…..

The Omnibus bill will fund the federal government through the end of September.
