A bill dealing with fees for the Secretary of States office that had been hoghoused in the House to become a bill to do away with the sales tax on food hit the wall in the Senate.

A motion was made to send the bill to a conference committee, but Senator Lee Schoenbeck of Watertown resisted…

Schoenbeck said they have had the same debate many times…

The motion for a conference committee was defeated on a vote of twenty two to nine, effectively killing the bill.
