The South Dakota Senate has postponed action on a bill that would repeal most of a voter approved government ethics overhaul.
Debate had just begun on the bill when Senate Majority Leader Blake Curd of Sioux Falls made a motion to impose Rule 5-17, which will delay any action until next week.
Senate Minority Leader Billie Sutton of Burke says democrats had been pushing to stall action on the bill…..
Sutton says he thinks republicans made the move to get ahead of the issue….
It takes seven votes to force a 5-17 rule. Democrats have only six Senators, but Sutton says they think they could have forced the rule….
IM22 has been on hold since a circuit judge put an injunction on the initiated measure.
