A bill that would make some changes to county zoning rules was before the South Dakota Senate State Affairs Committee this morning.
Bill sponsor, Representative Mark Mickelson of Sioux Falls, says the bill, HB1140, makes what he calls minor changes to procedures that would streamline the permitting process for livestock production facilities. He used Grant County as an example…..
Brad Greenway, a livestock producer from Mitchell, says the costs escalate for producers along with the delays…..
Dean Lockner of Ree Heights, opposed the changes, saying the current system works well…..
The committee gave the bill a do pass recommendation on a six to three vote. The bill now moves to the Senate floor.
