A tight supply of rail cars to ship crops at harvest time is almost an annual event. This year, cars and trains are available, but elevators are still piling corn and soybeans on the ground.
Todd Yeaton, who is Chairman of the state Railroad Board, says the costs of cars are reasonable right now….

Two years ago, heavy oil car traffic from North Dakota, and weather damage to rail facilities caused major transportation delays.
