The Midwest Dairy Association has named Lucas Lentsch as its next CEO. Lentsch, announced earlier this week he was stepping down as South Dakota’s secretary of agriculture. He’ll begin working for the organization in mid-April, transitioning into the group’s leadership post as the current CEO, Mike Kruger, moves toward retirement on July 1.

Kruger says Lentsch’s background was perfect for the job and his values lined up with the search committee.

He says they’re excited about this new chapter for the organization and looking forward to a seamless transition.

Kruger served in various capacities with the dairy checkoff organization the last 35 years.
