South Dakota schools will see no increase in their state aid next year if a House vote stands.
Representatives amended the funding bill this week to take out a three tenths of one percent increase, and instead give schools the same funding they got last year.
Representative Jean Hunhoff of Yankton, Vice Chair of the Appropriations Committee, says the drop in sales tax is responsible….
Hunhoff says it was a struggle to hold the school aid flat….
Hunhoff says there is a small dollar difference between the flat budget and zero point three……….
Governor Dennis Daugaard had recommended a one percent increase in his budget, and state law calls for the point three percent increase. The bill has to return to the Senate because of the amendments added in the House.
