With school starting at many South Dakota school districts later this month, the scramble is on for districts to fill their last teacher vacancies.
Dan Swartos, Superintendent at the McCook Central District in Salem says they still have one special opening to fill…..
Swartos says they were able to fill all of their teaching positions fairly quickly…..
The legislature this year raised the state sales tax a half cent to fund teacher pay raises. Swartos says they decided to increase pay based on qualifications………….
Due to construction, the McCook Central district will start school after Labor Day.
