SD Schools Don’t Need State Help on Trans Gender Issues

SD Schools Don’t Need State Help on Trans Gender Issues

While some legislators say they plan to sponsor bills again this year to restrict the locker and bathrooms that trans gender students can use, Governor Dennis Daugaard says that should not be a high priority.
The Governor vetoed a bill last year that would have required transgender students to use facilities that match their gender at birth.
Yankton School Superintendent Dr Wayne Kindle says they don’t need the states help on that issue…..

Kindle says restricting students to certain facilities puts a big burden on school officials…..

Kindle says restrictive laws on that issue don’t do much to help people….

A conservative group, Family Heritage Alliance Action, says it is a high priority, and they plan to sponsor a revised bill this year.
