Schools in South Dakota will get a point three percent increase in state aid next year. The legislature in the final hours of the session found enough money to avoid a flat budget.
Yankton School Superintendent Dr Wayne Kindle says they watched the budget request bounce around during the session…..
The increase would add one hundred forty-five dollars to the base teacher pay. Kindle says that will be their starting point for negotiations with their teachers…..
Kindle says much of their budget increase will be tied to increased student numbers…..
Kindle says the state Department of Education is holding webinars this week to explain the funding changes for schools.
