SD School District Work to Hit Teacher Accountability Goals

As part of the half cent sales tax increase passed last year by the South Dakota legislature, school districts had to show that they used the money for teacher pay raises. About thirty districts fell short of that goal.
Yankton School Superintendent Wayne Kindle says while they hit the target this year, it will be more difficult in the future…..

Governor Dennis Daugaard has proposed a funding freeze for schools next year. Kindle says that leave them with few options….

Kindle says they do have some flexibility in their budget…..

The legislature found enough money to give schools three tenths of one percent increase last year.
