The South Dakota Department of Revenue is scrambling to get the online sales tax report system ready by November first.
That is when state law authorizing the collection of sales taxes from online retailers is effective.
Governor Dennis Daugaard says the reports from those first collections will not be available until early next year….
Daugaard says the reports won’t break out where the taxes are coming from….
Daugaard says some existing retailers may use online stores for some of their sales…
Estimates of new money to the state from online taxes range from fifteen to fifty million dollars.
