A recent national report said that South Dakotas state retirement system was the only one in the country that had more than one hundred percent of liabilities covered.
Lieutenant Governor Matt Michels says that is due to good management, and several law changes over the past few years……
Michels says he doesn’t know how so many states fail to fully fund their retirement programs……
Michels says he and Governor Daugaard have pushed strong fiscal requirements to get and keep the states “Triple A” credit rating….
Michels says those regulations should help keep the state in good financial shape for years.
