SD Representatives Pushing for More Changes at IHS

South Dakotas Congressional delegation has been pushing the Indian Health Service to make changes quickly to improve the health care provided to Native Americans on state reservations.
Emergency rooms at hospitals in Pine Ridge and Rosebud have closed due to violations founds during federal inspections.

South Dakota Senator John Thune says there are large medical systems in the state that could provide the services needed on the reservations…..

Thune says technology like tele medicine could provide some rapid changes….

Thune says the tribes are not happy with the health care provided now by IHS…….

Thune and the other members of the delegation are pushing a bill that would provide more money for incentives to get medical professionals to stay at IHS facilities in the state.
