While rail traffic has begun on a newly rebuilt section of the MRC, or Mitchell – Rapid City line in central South Dakota, there are still some final fixes to be made.
The state Railroad Board got an update on track inspection at their meeting last month.
Board Chairman Todd Yeaton of Kimball says the eastern section of the MRC line is seeing faster traffic…..
On the newly rebuilt sections of the line from the Missouri River west, Yeaton says there are some minor issues…..
Yeaton says they have had inspectors on that section of line….
Yeaton says after the repairs are made, they will ask the federal Surface Transportation Board to certify the line as a Class 2 rail line.
