SD Rail Sales Progressing

The South Dakota State Railroad Board is working through the details of agreements to sell two segments of state-owned rail lines. The Sioux Valley Line between Beresford, Canton and Elk Point is being sold to the Dakota and Iowa Railroad, while the MRC line between Mitchell and Presho is being sold to short line operator WATCO.

Joel Jundt, deputy secretary of the state Transportation Department updated the board on the process..

Jundt says the deal with D&I may be ready by next months meeting…

Jundt says they expect to wrap up both sales fairly soon..

The D&I line is being sold for ten million dollars, while the MRC price was set at thirteen million dollars.
