The South Dakota State Railroad Board got an update this week on a project in Sioux City (Iowa) that could improve rail service in the state.
Board Chairman Todd Yeaton of Kimball says they are looking at a track expansion in the rail yard in Sioux City….
Yeaton says the rail interchange in Sioux City is a real bottleneck for traffic in and out of South Dakota….
Yeaton says it will be an expensive, long term project…..
Initial cost estimates ranged from three to six million dollars. The Sioux City junction gives state shippers multiple carriers with competition benefits.
