The South Dakota State Rail Board and a company building a grain loading facility in Yankton County made a land swap.
Rail Board Chairman Todd Yeaton of Kimball says the state will trade land with Dakota Plains, at the rail junction……
Construction of the loop track at the wye junction ended up on the state owned right of way.
Yeaton says they felt this was the best deal for both sides….
Building the facility at the junction allows Dakota Plains to access multiple rail carriers through the Sioux City exchange.
Yeaton says they also talked about a similar deal for Ralph Marquardt, who is expanding services at the Tabor Elevator, which is also on the state rail line…..
Yeaton says they want to protect the state owned rail line, while at the same time working to help businesses expand where they can.
