The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission has farm taps on their agenda again. In the 1950s, Northern Natural Gas gave landowners access to their interstate natural gas pipeline in exchange for easements across their land. Northwestern Energy, the current gas retailer for those customers wants to end their role in the service.
Commission Chair, Kristie Fiegen, says their staff has been looking for a solution…..
Fiegen says this issue has been outside their normal oversight…..
Fiegen says Mid American Energy has come forward with a plan to serve the farm tap customers…..
There are about two hundred farm tap customers along the route of the Northern Natural Gas pipeline.
