The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission has voted to deny motions from opponents to the Keystone XL pipeline project, to dismiss the re certification application, and the 2010 permit for the west river route.

The commission heard from opponents and developer Trans Canada at their meeting in Pierre today.

Commissioner Gary Hanson says even with the international border crossing permit rejection by President Obama, there could be another application in the future…..

Commission Chairman Chris Nelson says he agrees that the pipeline question is unsettled…..

Nelson says the current proceedings are not the place to revoke the original permit…..

The permit question may come up at the commissions’ next meeting in January.
