A South Dakota state prison inmate was placed on escape status after leaving his community service work site without authorization earlier Wednesday.
Inmate John Collins was last seen at the work site in Yankton at approximately 3 p.m. CDT.
The state Department of Corrections is now reporting that Collins was found by the Yankton County Sheriffs Office early Thursday morning, and picked up.
Collins was serving a 10-year sentence for grand theft out of Lawrence County and a five-year sentence for forgery and a 10-year sentence for third-degree burglary out of Butte County.
There are approximately 800 minimum-security inmates housed across the state, including 260 at the Yankton Minimum Unit.
