Ham is one of the most popular proteins for Easter and this year its healthier and more economical than ever. Ham prices are down from last year and Stacey Sorlien with the South Dakota Pork Producers Council says that makes it a great value regardless of the type of ham you choose to purchase.

Consumers can determine how large of a ham they need by figuring a quarter pound of meat per person. And Sorlien says ham is very easy to cook.

Sorlien says ham is healthier than it’s ever been. Today’s hams have a lower sodium content and are much leaner than they were in the past.
