Another South Dakota pork producer has moved into leadership on the National Pork Board. Alcester producer Steve Rommereim was elected as Treasurer at the board meeting held in conjunction with World Pork Expo. South Dakota Pork Producers Council Executive Director Glenn Muller says he is on track to move up the chairs to lead the organization in the next three years.
Rommereim joins a long list of South Dakota pork producers that have served and led on the national level, which Muller says is important for the state.
The members of the National Pork Board serve a key role in utilizing a multi-million dollar budget for research and education within the industry.
He says one of the primary goals of the checkoff is to fund programs that build long term demand for pork.
