SD Petition Passers Get Court Victory

The US Eighth Circuit Court this week upheld an earlier injunction of a South Dakota state law that attempted to limit the use of paid petition circulators.
Rick Weiland, with “Dakotans for Health” says it’s a big win for fair government….

Weiland says the bill was another step by legislators to put limits on the petition process…..

The law would have required petition circulators to list their address and phone number on a public website.
Weiland says there are already rules in place so people know who is circulating petitions…..

The injunction also took out the thirty-day residency clause for petition circulators that was in the original bill.
