The approval of new nursing courses at some of the state’s technical institutes is only part of the answer to the growing shortage of nurses.

Margie Washnok, President of the South Dakota Nurses Association, says they need to think about replacing nursing instructors……

Washnok has been a professor of nursing at Presentation College in Aberdeen since 1990. She says the demand for nurses continues to grow……

Washnok says the association can help bridge the gap get younger people interested in nursing……

South Dakota State University added a PHD program in nursing to help fill the need for teachers.
