Governor Dennis Daugaard announced earlier this summer that he would not call a special session of the legislature to consider Medicaid expansion. He said he didn’t think there was enough support to move forward.
While quiet now, the issue has not gone away.
Democratic Senator Billie Sutton of Burke says he expects the Governor to continue to lead on it………….

Sutton says legislative elections will have a big impact on the possibility of expansion……….

Sutton says there will have to be some compromises to expand Medicaid…………

Supporters say the expansion will bring hundreds of millions of federal dollars to the state. Opponents say the government is broke, and can’t be relied on to live up to its promises.
