South Dakota Secretary of State Shantel Krebs has announced that a challenge was submitted for an initiated measure to legalize marijuana for medical use. The initiated measure was previously rejected by her office last month.
The challenge was submitted by Melissa Mentele of Emery.

The Secretary of State’s office will verify the petition challenge in the coming months. There is not a deadline in state statute as to when the verification process must be completed.
