Changes in federal law now require local and state governments to account for their liabilities due to any retirement funds.
Graham Forbes, an accountant with Williams and Company, recently updated the Yankton City Commission on the new requirements……

Forbes says local governments in the state are all part of the South Dakota Retirement System, which he says is in good shape……

Forbes says each local government has to account for their share in the state fund…..

He says while those dollars have to be accounted for, they have no impact on the day to day operation of city government.
