The Joint Committee on Appropriations of the South Dakota Legislature has set revenue targets for next year’s budget.
They projected spending of one point four eight billion dollars for the budget that starts July first.
Committee member, Representative Jean Hunhoff of Yankton says they have been waiting for that estimate….

Hunhoff says there may be some adjustments as they approach the end of the legislative session….

Hunhoff says the wild card in the budgeting is funding for increased teacher pay. That is all connected to the fate of HB1182, the bill raising the sales tax a half cent….

Hunhoff says spending requests this year are already about four million dollars above the budget target.
