SD Legislators Watching Sagging Tax Trends

The Executive Board of the South Dakota legislature got an update this week on state revenues that show taxes are still running behind projections. Those estimates are part of the budget the legislature passed just last month.
Representative Jean Hunhoff of Yankton, Vice Chair of the Appropriations Committee, says she wants more information on where the sales are going….

Hunhoff says there is still time for revenue, like the contractors excise tax to rebound…..

Hunhoff says the slow ag economy will be a problem for the next couple of years….

Hunhoff says if the trend continues below projections, there could be problems hitting their targets at the end of the fiscal year in June.
