South Dakota legislators are waiting on Governor Kristi Noem possibly calling a special session of the legislature to deal with potential budget problems.
Representative Kent Peterson of Salem says it is top of mind for most of them…
Noem has said a special session won’t be needed this month but could be held later this summer or early fall.
Peterson says it would be pointless to meet without a clear picture of tax revenues….
Peterson says they are hoping the Governor can get the rules relaxed on spending the one point two billion dollars the state got from the federal government…..
Peterson finished first in a three-way House primary in District 19 and doesn’t face a democratic opponent in November.
