SD Legislators Updated on Illegal Drug Costs

The Government Operations and Audit Committee of the South Dakota legislature held a six-hour meeting this week, to kick off the interim of the 2017 session.
Much of the session focused on drugs, problems and solutions.
Committee Vice Chair, Representative Jean Hunhoff of Yankton says they heard about the connection between drugs and the prison populations…..

Hunhoff says there are programs underway focused on slowing the incoming drugs….

Hunhoff says they also heard about the rapidly rising costs of drug rehabilitation efforts……

Hunhoff says the reports said the top four counties for meth arrests last year were: Minnehaha, Pennington, Todd and Yankton.
