The County Government Interim Committee of the South Dakota legislature wrapped up two days of hearings this week.
The committee is looking at the financial issues that counties are facing.
They heard many stories from county commissioners of tight budgets and rapidly rising costs, and the need for more revenue.
In closing comments, Representative Joshua Klumb of Mt Vernon says they should start writing some bills dealing with tax changes in advance of the 2016 session……….

Senator Jenna Haggar of Sioux Falls says with major tax increases last session for roads and highways, it will be difficult to look at more hikes next year…………

Senator Bob Ewing of Spearfish says it will be hard for him to support any tax increases next year…………

The committee will meet again next month.
